Chile - travel highlights

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

Here you'll find the most popular places in our country. However, we will gladly assist you with any other questions you might have and prepare a program with exclusive destinations in Chile

Breathtaking natural attractions from the Altiplano include the Lauca National Park, clear blue and emerald lakes, extensive steppes, immense sparkling white salt deposits, hidden hot springs and amazing geysers. In the occasional tiny rustic village with a picturesque colonial church, indigenous Aymara shepherds herd their animals and grow their crops. The "Far North" of Chile invites you to an unforgettable experience!

The Atacama Desert - the driest desert on earth-, offers beautiful extremes: the eerily silent landscape of the nearby Moon Valley, El Tatio Geysers - a geothermal field of fumaroles -, the highland lagoons Miscanti and Miñiques, ancient villages like Toconao and Peine and of course the immense Salar de Atacama (salt flat) with its flocks of flamingos and rare birds waiting to be observed on their breeding grounds. San Pedro de Atacama is a true oasis and centre of a Palaeolithic culture: an absolute "must" to visit.

Midway between Tahiti and Chile, the volcanic Easter Island is an extraordinary place to visit. Giant stone Moai statues on the shoreline, several more unfinished lying in mountain rocks, the ceremonial centre of Orongo, volcanic craters, diving in its clear waters and the pretty Beach of Anakena with its tropical white sand ... A guaranteed "once in a lifetime" experience!

Santiago de Chile, located in the centre of the country, offers a great stage for all kinds of happenings due to its proximity to the snow-capped peaks of the Andes and the hustle and bustle of the colonial yet modern city with an absolutely great offer of culture and gastronomy. In addition, one finds the beautiful picturesque port town of Valparaíso and the resort city Viña del Mar located at the Pacific Coast at 1 hour driving distance. Cultural and active experiences all around.

Mountain peaks reaching for the clear blue skies, fertile valleys with rivers winding through rolling hills, heading towards the ocean. A local Chilean cowboy or "huaso," with his characteristic hat and colourful poncho, on horseback, riding alongside the vast vineyards greeting you cordially... The perfect setting to let you sample and taste superb wine; enjoy marvellous food and stay overnight at a beautiful boutique vineyard hotel.

The beauties of this southern region extend from snow-capped Andes to forests filled with Araucaria trees, lakes and volcanoes. Numerous visitors are also attracted by the varied outdoor activities available, its well-structured tourism infrastructure and the countless national parks and nature reserves. Great and impressive addition to this region is the presence of the indigenous Mapuche culture; very much alive today.

The Lake District is famous for its emerald coloured lakes and rivers, snow-capped volcanoes and deep humid forests offering a jungle experience without the hard to bear moist heat. The entire area is very rich in flora and fauna, where birds and marine animals abound in particular. Hiking, horseback riding, biking, paragliding, rafting or kayaking, helicopter rides.... it´s all possible in this southern part of Chile.

Chile's most emblematic region, Chilean Patagonia, offers the dramatic landscapes one would expect from the world's ultimate land's end. Here, the South American continent falls away in a dazzling explosion of islands, glaciers, icebergs and mountains. It is one of Mother Nature's grand finales. Torres del Paine National Park, isolated from the rest of Chile by fierce storms and impassable mountains, is the crown jewel of the Chilean nature and tourism.
